Program Overview

Students at Penn-Mont Academy enjoy the daily benefits of the school’s outdoor education environment. A series of interconnecting nature and fitness trails flow throughout the 2.5 acre space which includes an education pavilion, learning circles, natural amphitheater, gaga ball pit, open field, raised beds for gardening, water features, and “I wonder” discovery areas. The outdoor space is a safe, self-contained environment where students can connect with the natural world.

Research shows that outdoor education for children results in improved physical health and emotional well-being as well as cognitive benefits such as an increase in attention, motivation and understanding. The different learning areas in the Outdoor Environment allow multiple classrooms to use the space at the same time for lessons, curriculum enrichment and physical activity.
