Foreign Language

Program Overview

Child development researchers have shown that young children are uniquely suited to learning a second language: the developing brain is hardwired to acquire language. At Penn-Mont we begin planting the seeds of foreign language learning at the Children’s House level and expand through the elementary years.

ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

Elementary students receive Spanish instruction one day a week. During this time, our Spanish teacher works with students in small groups for direct instruction, as well as spends time working within in the classroom immersing students with the Spanish language during their daily activities and work.

Upper elementary students further their Spanish instruction with individualized lessons using duolingo.com.
